Buddhist Meditation: Bringing Your Practice into Daily Life
With John Henderson
June 16 - 18, 2023
A DHARMAKAYA CENTER RETREAT
Buddha’s focus was on alleviating the dissatisfaction (often translated as suffering) that is so much a part of our lived experience—so it’s not surprising that his teachings offer a useful blueprint for approaching life’s challenges. In this engaging weekend program of interactive teachings, meditation, and discussion we will explore practical ways in which Buddha’s teachings improve our daily lives.
“I absorbed more from John’s teachings than from any other Buddhist materials I have seen. Now I am able to see the big picture, which will help with my practice.”

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Wouldn’t it be nice to be less stressed and more compassionate? To improve difficult relationships? To reduce anxiety? To gain greater patience? To feel stronger connections with friends and family? To experience true inner calm? Buddha’s teachings offer insights that point the way. Moving from theory to practice, this program will provide some tangible skills to help apply the teachings in day to day life, addressing such topics as:
- Why it is helpful to let go of negative emotions—and how to succeed
- How to navigate conflict compassionately
- How to weave meditation into your daily life—and why that makes a difference
- How to quiet your inner critic
- How to notice—and fully appreciate—the good all around you
When not in class, relax in the Center’s beautiful and tranquil environment. Enjoy the view from the patio, walk through our woods, curl up with a book in the library or contemplate the stars while sitting by the fire pit.
