Meditation calms the mind, bringing clarity. It is the most basic of practices-yet to be successful it requires advanced concentration skills which may take some time to develop. The starting point is Shamata meditation, in which we focus on our breath or an external object, reducing extraneous thoughts and distracting influences. Our minds can rest—not sleep, but simply “be.”

With practice, we then slowly gain concentration, building the inner alertness and stamina that support insight meditation. Just as a magnifying glass can start a fire, a mind focused on one subject can develop wisdom and burn through ignorance.

Whether you are a new meditator, have a developed practice, or are simply seeking renewal in the serenity of a contemplative environment, this profound meditation retreat can help you uncover the innate clarity of your mind.

The present moment awaits. Meet it fully.

Jewon Jigme Rinpoche, born in Eastern Tibet, grew up and was educated among many of the prominent teachers in the Kagyu lineage. In 1974, during his first visit to Europe, His Holiness the 16th Karmapa designated Jigme Rinpoche as head of Dhagpo Kagyu Ling in Dordogne, France, the central seat of his European activity. In making this appointment, His Holiness said, "In the person of Jigme Rinpoche, I give you my heart." It is in this spirit that Jigme Rinpoche today continues his activity in Europe and in the U.S., traveling extensively, visiting and teaching in the centers, and inspiring all who come in contact with him.
